Build Connections at the Australia-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Business Forum
The Australia-ASEAN Business Forum will be held in Adelaide for the first time since 2014, strengthening ties and accelerating growth between Southeast Asia and Australia. More than 750 leaders, policy makers and diplomats will come together for the event, on 26–27 August 2025, which includes high profile speakers and an exhibition for businesses to build relationships with delegates. The event aims to create relationships between countries and open up pathways for trade, investment and innovation.

AEDA Invests $3.6 million in Six New Strategic Partnerships
AEDA has awarded six organisations a share of $3.6 million as part of a funding program to support job creation, innovation and business activity across the city. Successful applicants are Business Events Adelaide, Renew Adelaide, University of Adelaide/ThincLab, Festival City Adelaide, Study Adelaide, and MTPConnect.

Minimum Wage Changes
The National Minimum Wage has increased 3.5 per cent to $948 per week, or $24.95 per hour. This brings annual pay up $1,699.20 to $49,296. The change comes into effect the first pay cycle after 1 July 2025.

Managing WHS
SA Business Chamber, in conjunction with St John's Ambulance SA, will host a webinar about new legislation requiring specific government, commercial, and privately owned facilities to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). There are penalties of up to $20,000 for non-compliance of the new rules. It is on Tuesday, 29 July.

Adelaide Climbs the Ranks
Adelaide has risen 15 places in StartupBlink's Startup Ecosystem Report, now ranking 217 out of more than 1,450 cities worldwide. CleanTech – which includes products, services, and processes that reduce harm to the environment through efficiency, sustainability, and protection – was the city's top-ranked subsector.

Consumer spending in Adelaide surged to nearly $1 billion in the first quarter of 2025, according to new data from AEDA. Entertainment venues and foot traffic across the city also saw strong growth, highlighting confidence and vibrancy in the local economy.
