Unpacking Opportunities for Adelaide at Business Summit

More than 400 people descended on the Adelaide Oval for the second AEDA Business Summit on Wednesday 24 May, with topics including education, economics, technology and property all in the spotlight. Headlined by Technology Council of Australia Chief Executive Kate Pounder, some of the nation’s brightest minds delivered insights into how Adelaide’s economy could be further boosted by unlocking potential opportunities and addressing challenges.

AEDA has released its first post-pandemic prospectus — Invest Adelaide — which showcases the benefits of doing business in the city. The prospectus, launched at the AEDA Business Summit on May 24 at Adelaide Oval, looks into sectors such as property, retail, tech, education, creative industries, defence and space and how potential investors, in both South Australia and abroad, can take advantage of what the city can offer.

Electrifying the built environment, as well as the opportunities and challenges around building refurbishment, will be up for discussion at Green Building Day. It will be held in the city for the first time on Tuesday 6 June 2023.

International Visitor Numbers up as AEDA Welcomes Tourism Delegates to the City for Industry Conference

International visitation numbers in January were at their highest point since 2022, new data analysed by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency shows. The most recent Visitor Economy Report Q1 2023 showed a strong start to the year, with major events such as the Adelaide International, Tour Down Under, Adelaide Fringe and WOMAD attracting visitor nights and high levels of expenditure.

Cosmos Science City

Eat your lunch with a side of science at the new Cosmos Science City lunchtime series. Academics will talk about a variety of topics, including how businesses can help reduce the burden of coffee cup waste on the environment. The first event is on Monday 5 June 2023.

Digital Skills Workshops

Learn new digital marketing skills at City Library for free every Tuesday in June. Social media management, setting up your business on Google and managing reviews, community engagement, content production and website creation will be discussed at four different workshops.

Flaming Hot After Work Drinks on Cold Winter's Night

The thought of heading out for after work drinks on a cold winter's night might sound daunting, however, a new bar in the city's West End is helping dial up the heat. Learn about High Spirits bar, which launched last week, and other venues that shake, stir and blend their cocktails with a side of fire to combat those chilly nights.

The SA Premier’s Business and Export Awards recognise and celebrate the contribution local businesses make to the community's social, environmental and economic wellbeing. There are 24 award categories, with applications closing on Friday 14 July 2023.
