ADL Fashion Week kicks off

Last updated 11 Oct, 2024

Adelaide will be the epicenter for all things catwalks and couture following the official launch of ADL Fashion Week.

From runways to workshops, ADL Fashion Week celebrates the diverse range and scope of the city's fashion, beauty, arts, food and creative industries.

The event was launched at The Loft at the Hotel Richmond—the festival hub with pop-up shops from designers such as Effie Kats, Lana Wilkinson, Yaneth and South Australian icon Paul Vasileff's Paolo Sebastion.

Adelaide Economic Development Agency Marketing & Tourism Executive Manager Michael Rossi encourages South Australians to embrace everything the festival has to offer.

"We've got talks, workshops, runways... and the weather has come out, so it's time to update your spring and summer wardrobe," Mr Rossi says.

"At The Loft, we've got Paolo Sebastian, we've got Yaneth, we have Effie Kats and we also have Lana Wilkinson who are showcasing their products from Melbourne, with potentially an eye on the Adelaide market in the future."

In Rundle Mall, shoppers can step into Jardin de Mall, a Parisian Garden opposite the Gawler Place canopy, where French-chic energy meets romantic and charming vibes.

The Maison De Shop & Win gives shoppers a chance to win a share of more than $30,000 worth of prizes when they spend $150 in one shop, on any day of ADL Fashion Week.

Top prizes include a $10,000 Flight Centre voucher, a two-night stay at The Sofitel with a $5,000 Rundle Mall voucher and a year's worth of free coffee at Bottega Bandito.

After entering the competition, shoppers can receive one of three bespoke AFW rewards, including a personalised Leo Greenfield illustrated postcard, an AFW happy snap in the festival photobooth, or a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or a refreshing soft drink at The Loft.

The Mall will also be open until 6pm on Saturday 12 October.

Rundle Mall Executive Manager Andrew White says Rundle Mall is your front row seat to fashion.

"We are expecting there will be hundreds of thousands of people coming into the Mall during ADL Fashion Week

"It is an absolute stomper for our retailers, and they really love it.

"We have a lot of exclusive offers throughout the weekend, so it is a great experience ... we are expecting people to spend big."

Kats, a third-generation Greek woman from a sartorialist family, intertwines tradition with innovation, creating pieces that resonate with the essence of contemporary modern women.

"We have such a strong customer base in Adelaide, so it has been amazing to actually come (to Adelaide) and connect with customers and meet face-to-face," Kats says.

Stylist to the stars and shoe designer Lana Wilkinson says Adelaide is a "fashion destination" that is buzzing with excitement from the three-day festival.

"I feel really proud because we haven't done a pop-up shop before and we are doing it in Adelaide," Wilkinson says.

"Adelaide is definitely where it is at."

ADL Fashion Week is on until Sunday, 13 October.
