AEDA helps global wine company put down roots in Adelaide CBD
Accolade Wines has relocated its head office to Adelaide CBD, with at least 160 staff to occupy an entire level at the GPO Exchange on Franklin Street.
As one of the world’s largest wine companies, Accolade Wines has more than 50 brands in its extensive portfolio from across Australia, Europe, America and South Africa, including South Australian favourites Hardys, Grant Burge, St Hallett, Petaluma and Croser.
Accolade Wines has grown from its South Australian heritage to building a national and international presence with more than 1600 employees across 20 countries and a presence in more than 140 global markets. Accolade Wines has chosen to base its head office in Adelaide’s CBD as part of the growth of the business.
The move complements recent decisions by other global brands such as Microsoft, Nokia, Google and Accenture who have chosen the city as a destination to grow their Australian footprint.
The Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) supported the company’s transition to the heart of the CBD.
AEDA Managing Director Ian Hill says working with Accolade Wines has highlighted the strength of a Welcome to Adelaide pilot program.
“We want to work with organisations to help them take advantage of everything the city has to offer. From introductory offers at UParks, Adelaide Aquatic Centre, Rundle Mall and North Adelaide Golf Course, to a foyer pop-up with the Adelaide Central Market, and facilitating staff connection to key services around the city,” said Mr Hill.
“Welcome to Adelaide provides the opportunity for new staff arriving into the city to become integrated into the community more rapidly, meaning a positive experience for the individual and the business, and the city economy is stronger for it.
“Adelaide is Australia’s most liveable city and is positioned as one of the best places in the world to live, work, invest and do business. Accolade Wines relocating to the CBD is another significant indicator that Adelaide should be on the list for all global companies who want a presence in Australasia.
“Accolade Wines is one of the global wine industry’s leading companies and to have them expand their presence in South Australia by basing their head office in the Adelaide CBD will surely encourage other enterprises to establish a base in the city."
Jason Duldig, Head of Legal at Accolade Wines is excited to now be located in the Adelaide CBD after leading the project to move to the city on behalf of the company.
“We’re delighted to have relocated to the Adelaide CBD just last week in a move that is a significant investment in our new employee proposition, to attract and retain talent, and one example of the company’s many recent investments in South Australia,” said Mr Duldig.
“Over the last year, Accolade Wines has invested more than $50 million in capital expenditure projects, the vast majority in South Australia, with plans to exceed this investment this financial year.
“Accolade Wines commenced production at a new bottling and warehousing facility at Berri Estates in the Riverland to help the company drive productivity and performance, and assist in meeting the increasing demand for quality Australian wine from domestic and international consumers.
“Accolade Wines’ connection to South Australia and its successful export growth agenda were recognised at the SA Premier’s Export Awards where Accolade Wines won both the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages category award and the prestigious South Australian Exporter of the Year Award. The company’s growth in key export markets and sustained investment in South Australia has been fostered by the positive business environment created by the South Australian Government."
Accolade Wines officially moved into its new home at the GPO Exchange on Monday 6 December 2021 and AEDA warmly welcomes them to the neighbourhood.
