AEDA launches its first Stategic Plan to Increase Economic Impact Across the City
The Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) has developed its first strategic plan outlining the Agency’s approach to increasing economic activity in Adelaide over the next four years.
The AEDA Strategic Plan 2024/25 - 2028/29 outlines the Agency's approach over the next four years in regard to how it will deliver on its Charter requirements, the City of Adelaide Strategic Plan and Council’s recently endorsed Economic Development Strategy.
The Plan proposes increasing the emphasis AEDA will place on:
- Increased marketing and promotion of the City to support investment attraction, attract visitors and investment into a consistent brand to underpin AEDA’s marketing activities;
- Continuing to fund into events, identifying new tourism products and experiences that provide a reason for people to come to Adelaide and extend their stay as well as increased promotion to intrastate markets;
- Enhancing Adelaide as a centre for education and collaboration (Goal 3 of Council’s Economic Development Strategy), increased investment into programs to support businesses to grow and employ more people, and development of a targeted proactive investment attraction; and
- Developing Rundle Mall’s role as South Australia’s premier retail destination through new activations, refresh of marketing activity, brand attraction and activating laneways.
AEDA Chair Nikki Goven said the Plan provides the Agency with greater focus for its work and planning, as well as providing a signal to our strategic partners on how we can work more effectively together to help the Council deliver on the aspirations in its economic development strategy.
“This plan aims to increase foot traffic across the city, increase spend, increase the number of people coming into the City, as well as increase the level of business activity and investment.”
“It acknowledges that economic development has strong interrelationships with built form, community development, events and culture. This provides a platform for continuing to work collaboratively with Council and other agencies.”
