Rundle Mall made history on 22 October when 385 people moved, stretched and flowed as part of WellFest Adelaide's Biggest Yoga Session.
The event, the largest outdoor class in an Australian shopping precinct, spanned the entire length of the mall and raised more than $8,000 for Beyond Blue's 24/7 Support Service.
The session is understood to be the largest yoga session in an Australian shopping precinct, beating the previous record set by Caneland Central in Queensland that attracted 356 participants in 2019.
Adelaide Economic Development Agency Executive Manager Rundle Mall Andrew White, one of the 385 participants, told Shopping Centre News said the event was welcomed by traders and yogis alike.
“The event demonstrated the way we, as a shopping precinct, want to activate and add value to our retailers and customers," Mr White said.
"It was great to see hundreds of people enjoying Rundle Mall in a unique way, with many then heading into the Mall’s arcades, centres and food courts to enjoy a coffee and breakfast, before shopping at their favourite stores.
The event was part of WellFest Adelaide, a citywide wellness festival delivered by AEDA.
