As an incentive for visiting the city on one of the busiest days of the year, bargain hunters can head to the Rundle Mall Refuel Station at the Gawler Place intersection for their chance to win their share of the $40,000 prize pool. The $100 gift cards are redeemable in Rundle Mall, the city and North Adelaide, designed to inject the investment back into city businesses by boosting consumer spending through Black Friday weekend and beyond.
The Rundle Mall campaign capitalises on the recent surge in the Customer Sentiment Index as shoppers prepare to spend big in the lead up to the festive season. Marking the first ‘net positive’ reading in four years, data from the Westpac–Melbourne Institute shows that consumer sentiment has grown 12.8 per cent in the last month, from 92.1 in October to 103.8 in November 2025. According to economists, this is an extraordinary result that outweighs concerns about inflation and interest rates and demonstrates a strong outlook for the Australian economy.
Recent data from the Adelaide Economic Development Agency supports this promising development for retailers, with projections showing that approximately $30 million will be spent in Rundle Mall over Black Friday weekend (28 November to 1 December 2025) alone, surpassing the Mall’s 2024 Black Friday spend. This marks a third consecutive year of record-breaking sales in the Mall and cements Black Friday as the biggest weekend in the South Australian shopping calendar.
With more than 700,000 shoppers expected across the four days, Rundle Mall is feeding the pre-Christmas consumer appetite by extending its opening hours all weekend. The Mall is tipped to be the only shopping destination in Adelaide that will remain open until midnight on Black Friday — giving savvy shoppers more time to explore more than 1000 stores and creating an added incentive to dine in the city between shopping stops.
Designed as a hub for customers to recharge between shopping destinations, the Refuel Station will also be giving away goodies from local businesses, including pick-me-up treat bags from FruChocs, Kytons Bakery ALTR, Krispy Kreme, FUNDAY, Happy Way and more! Additionally, the Mall’s complimentary Black Friday Valet service will offer weary shoppers transport between stores, allowing them to take a much-needed break as they make their way to their next stop or taking them back to vehicles parked in the shopping precinct at the end of their visit.
