A Swedish manufacturer says opening its doors permanently at Lot Fourteen will pave the way to further growth across the country.
MCT Brattberg locked down a contract to be part of the $45 billion Hunter class frigate program after initially setting up at the North Tce innovation precinct’s Defence Space and Landing Pad.
The company, which specialises in the manufacture of sealings for cables and pipes, would deliver cable transit frames, and deckhead and bulkhead glands for the first three Hunter class frigates.
It would work closely with BAE Systems Australia on the project – which is the largest of its kind in Australia’s defence history – to provide technical support, storage and knowledge sharing.
“This strategic alliance with BAE Systems Maritime Australia provides the perfect foundation for future growth in the domestic market and opportunity for MCT Brattberg Australia to expand its Australian presence and capability,” MCT Brattberg Australia managing director Anders Folbert said.
MCT Brattberg joins Bechtel, Bombardier Defence and Acciona which all moved into Lot Fourteen this year.
It comes as the Government of South Australia called for a new food and beverage operator to breathe new life into the Sheridan building.
The government invited “experienced cafe operators” with “exceptional food and beverage services” to express interest in the site.
There is the opportunity to purchase plant and equipment, as well as adapt existing fit out.
