2025 AEDA Business Summit to help define city’s economic future
The AEDA Business Summit returns to the Adelaide Oval on Tarntanya Wama on Tuesday 20 May 2025, with top industry leaders set to share their economic visions for the city. Premier of South Australia, The Honourable Peter Malinauskas MP will deliver a keynote address, with a full lineup of speakers set to be announced in the coming weeks.
AEDA 2025 Tourism Product Accelerator
AEDA and Tourism Accelerator—a leading industry support network—have launched a program that will help 12 tourism businesses develop a market-ready product to showcase on a global stage. This exclusive program is funded by AEDA, subject to a small $400 + GST commitment fee.

_SOUTHSTART kicks off next month
AEDA Strategic Partner _SOUTHSTART will host its annual festival between 4 – 6 March to celebrate Adelaide’s vibrant innovation and creativity sectors. The theme this year—Space to Breathe—encourages participants to step back, gain clarity and engage in meaningful conversations that lead to growth and collaboration.
City of Adelaide’s Adaptive Reuse City Housing Initiative
Property owners looking to transform underutilised space into homes could be eligible for grants of up to $25,000 as part of the City of Adelaide’s Adaptive Reuse City Housing Initiative. The program aims to address housing shortages and is run in conjunction with the Government of South Australia. Grants are subject to eligibility criteria.
AEDA Q1 2025 Mainstreet Tenancy Report available
Commercial tenancy levels across the city continue to improve, with the overall vacancy rate dropping from 10.5 per cent in Q3 2024 to 9.9 percent in Q1 2025. Melbourne Street continues to have the top occupancy rate, while Hindley Street is trending in a positive direction with occupancy rates improving.

South Australian Tourism Commission’s Experience Development Program
Expressions of interest for the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC)’s Experience Development Program are now open. The program will support up to 20 operators across the state in developing and selling new and innovative products or experience ideas. Applications close on Friday 28 February 2025.
Shop longer and later this festive season
Business owners can trade longer during the festival season to leverage increased foot traffic and tourism activity in the CBD. Under the exemptions, traders can open until 6pm on Saturdays between 15 February and 22 March. Employees must voluntarily agree to work these extra hours.
More companies choosing to call the CBD home
Office occupancy rates in the city have surged over the past 12 months, marking the highest level of commercial space leased in a year since the Global Financial Crisis. Speaking at a Property Council Australia (SA) event, AEDA Economic Research Advisor Jordon Tomopolous said more than 50,000sq m of commercial space had been leased in the city of the past year. Meanwhile, trends show that more businesses to move into CBD buildings with premium amenities.
