2024/25 in Review: AEDA Annual Report Highlights
AEDA has released its 2024/25 Annual Report, celebrating a year of progress and strategic partnerships to help drive the city's economic landscape forward. From continued investment in city businesses to championing Adelaide’s world-class festivals, AEDA markets the city, works with the tourism sector and provides data and insights that contribute to a thriving place to live, work and play.
Decades in the Making: New Businesses Open at Eighty Eight O'Connell
The new Eighty Eight O’Connell development has welcomed a wave of new businesses, marking an exciting chapter of growth and opportunity at the site that was vacant for 36 years. Iconic South Australian food and wine retailer Mercato, cult ice-creamery Gelato Messina, luxury rooftop restaurant Yakisan, retailer SAINTGARDE, fine jewellery brand Cassandra Mamone and Hub North Adelaide are among tenants to open at the site.

The city is gaining international acclaim as a premier destination for business events, driven by the efforts of an Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) Strategic Partner, Business Events Adelaide. With a $948,000 investment over three years from AEDA’s Strategic Partnerships Program, Business Events Adelaide is powering initiatives that spark innovation, drive job creation and boost business engagement across the city.
City Shoppers Set to Splash Cash at Black Friday Sales
City businesses are gearing up for bumper trade at the upcoming Black Friday Weekend sales, with new figures showing consumer spending climbing for the third straight year. According to new data, city-wide spending will reach approximately $68 million between Friday 28 November and Monday 1 December—up 12 per cent from 2024.
Professional Development: Business Fundamentals Program
Small and family businesses can access mentoring, workshops and advisory services to support long-term growth and sustainability through the Business Fundamentals Program. The initiative aims to provide the knowledge and tools needed to strengthen strategies, build confidence and elevate business processes. The Business Fundamentals Program is an initiative of the state government's Office for Small and Family Business and the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023 – 2030.
Last Seats Remain For Data4Lunch
AEDA will host its next Data4Lunch event at the Adelaide Mariott Hotel on Wednesday, 12 November 2025. Speakers will unpack the latest economic and employment data to highlight which sectors are growing, where talent is flowing and how businesses are adapting. Speakers include Scott Philp from the Department of State Development and Jane Johnston from StudyAdelaide.
Reaching Gaming Success: Games Development Opportunity
Grants of up to $100,000 are available for digital game development teams looking to move their product to their next milestone, such as a prototype, demo or final release. Applications for the Digital Games Fund, made possible by the South Australian Film Corporation, close on Friday, 5 December 2025.

Small businesses passionate about making a difference can unpack challenges, have meaningful discussions and explore opportunities with like-minded peers as part of Business for Good Program on Friday, 21 November 2025. Run by the state government in conjunction with other partners, participants work with experts to identify actionable steps for sustainable growth.
Opening Doors to New Opportunities: New Program for Creatives
Creatives looking to grow their business are invited to apply for the Next Workspace Creative Business Residency Program. This exciting new initiative allows one applicant to secure a six-month residency at the community-minded CBD space. The opportunity is paired with one-on-one business mentoring from Elena Krotiris, a creative business expert and Director at Holman Hodge, with applications closing Friday, 21 November 2025.
