Kaurna Acknowledgement

AEDA acknowledges the Kaurna people as the Traditional Owners of the Country where the city of Adelaide is situated today and pays its respect to Elders past and present.

Incorporating a ‘Welcome to Country’ or ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ into official event formalities recognises Kaurna people as the First Australians and custodians of their land. This recognition of Country is a sign of respect and provides an opportunity to create awareness and the sharing of Kaurna culture.

A full copy of the informative and easy-to-follow City of Adelaide's ‘Welcome to Country’ and ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ Protocol and Guidelines can be found here.

Kaurna place naming

Our Kaurna register connects you with Kaurna People who can provide a Welcome to Country, workshops, tours and other cultural services. Further information can be found here.
