Fintech leader Matt Poblocki has been reappointed to the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) Board for a further three years.

Following an expressions of interest process that attracted significant interest, the AEDA selection panel recommended Mr Poblocki be reappointed to the Board.

The City of Adelaide Council endorsed the recommendation at its 13 August 2024 meeting.

Mr Poblocki, first appointed to the Board in June 2023, is passionate about Adelaide's tech ecosystem and supporting entrepreneurs looking to start or scale up their business ventures.

AEDA Chair Nikki Govan says Mr Poblocki brings a wealth of experience to the Board, especially at a time where technology is a strong growth sector in the city’s economy.

“We are delighted to have Matt back on the AEDA Board—his knowledge will help the Agency navigate the challenges, and take advantage of opportunities, presented by the fast-growing digital landscape,” Ms Govan says.

“Adelaide is an enterprising city that is brimming with confidence and, with Matt’s expertise, we can continue to drive the city’s reputation as a hub for innovation.”

Mr Poblocki—who has worked in Australia and overseas—has been employed by some of the world’s leading dot coms and technology companies, including Afterpay, eBay and PayPal. He has also advised start- and scale-ups across Australia and Asia.

He has worked in commercial and strategy leadership roles at tech companies across Australia and Silicon Valley, focusing on e-commerce international expansion, influencing financial services regulatory, and government relations and policy from Australia to countries in Asia and Europe.

Mr Poblocki hopes to bring his experience locally, nationally and internationally to further contribute to driving economic growth in the city.

“Following my initial year with the Board I remain as passionate as ever to contribute to AEDA’s vision and strategy to help grow Adelaide’s strong reputation as a vibrant, cultural and economic capital city,” Mr Poblocki says.

“I strongly believe, that like our sister city Austin (Texas), Adelaide is well-placed for us to readily work concertedly across government, the business sector and academic institutions for our next wave of growth.”
