Data at Your Fingertips: Make the most out of AEDA's Interactive Dashboards
Businesses across Adelaide can get the latest data about the city’s economy by using the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA)’s interactive dashboards.
The dashboards, which aim to help users with their business decisions, cover a range of areas including shopfront vacancies, industry insights, city user demographics, economic indicators and forward hotel occupancy.
“There is some really great information that serves both businesses and individuals alike, offering data to guide smart business decisions and providing insightful glimpses into the city economy,” Economic Research Advisor Jordon Tomopoulos says.
“The data we are providing is updated regularly, so it is very reliable to use in your planning ahead for 2025.”
“Armed with this invaluable information, you can make smarter decisions and unlock new opportunities in Adelaide's thriving economic market.”

What are Activity Levels and how do they reflect the local economy?
From nominal expenditure to aggregated parking— the Activity Levels in the City of Adelaide dashboard gives a snapshot into the state of the economy.
It can be filtered by month and year for comparison, giving an overall activity score that summarises the status of all data into a single value out of 100.
“You can see the different indicators that contribute to activity levels, whether that’s consumer expenditure, banking data transactions, foot traffic, or parking levels,” Mr Tomopoulos says.
“If you look into the months or years gone by you will see ebbs and flows of people movement and economic activity, which is particularly important for small business planning.”
How can I access information on future hotel bookings within a certain time period?
Launched in December 2024, the Forward Hotel Occupancy dashboard shows how many rooms across the city and North Adelaide have been booked, as a percentage, a year ahead.
It is updated weekly on a Thursday.
“You can see how this year compares to last year, for example,” Mr Tomopolous says.
“It also shows you when there are significant events to allow for more effective consumption of data.
“For example, you can see peaks when the Tour Down Under and the British Lions Australian Tour is on.”
How can I get a detailed overview of the activities and trends in different sectors of the city’s job market?
The City Industries Insights dashboard provides detailed data on how various business sectors in the city are evolving.
With interactive filters, users can tailor their views to focus on specific sectors or sub-sectors, providing a comprehensive economic overview.
“It also allows you to see how industries are performing, as well as the sub-industries in that sector” Mr Tomopolous says.
“You can see how those sub-industries contribute to the economy in terms of total employment, worker productivity and output by millions of dollars.”
What is macroeconomics, and how can it help me?
The Macroeconomics dashboard provides high level information, showing how the city’s economy is tracking against greater Adelaide and Australia.
It allows users to see the contribution the city makes to the South Australian economy in terms of export, value add, employment and expenditure.
“You can also see how inflation data is differing compared to the nation, unemployment and finally the changes in GST registrations of businesses in the city.”
