Adelaide has been ranked in the top 30 per cent in the world for its events and festivals last quarter, new data shows.

Tourism Sentiment Index Score figures — a ranking formulated by how people feel about various locations around the world — showed Adelaide was the 36th best for its events and festivals between July and September 2022.

Events, concerts and festivals were also listed as Adelaide’s most-loved assets followed by restaurants and dining and beaches.

Festival, events and concerts in Adelaide generated 18 per cent more positive sentiment than half of the destinations around the world.

Adelaide was ranked 65th best place in the world overall, up from 98th in the first quarter of 2022.

Being named in the rankings means Adelaide earned a positive reputation and impressive Tourism Sentiment Score between July and September.

The Tourism Sentiment Index Score comes as the Adelaide Fringe took out Best Festival in the People’s Choice Uniquely Aussie Awards, presented by Wotif.

Adelaide Fringe Director and Chief Executive Officer Heather Croall said the Adelaide Fringe had a significant impact on the state.

“Fringe isn’t just about the art, it’s about the ripple effect of having 6000 artists descend upon Adelaide and South Australia,” Ms Croall said.

“The city’s atmosphere shifts and people really embrace that and lean into the diversity”

"Winning the People's Choice award for Best Festival is a particularly fantastic acknowledgement of Adelaide Fringe from those who know it the best and a great litmus test for the direction we’ve been heading in recent years."

The 2022 Adelaide Fringe, held for one month across February and March attracted 3.2 million attendances across 31 days, generating 178,055 tourist nights by interstate and international artists and audiences.

The Adelaide Economic Development Agency proudly supports both new and existing festivals across the state, see more about grants and opportunities.
