Adelaide Takes off: Your International Connectivity Guide
Adelaide Airport will welcome a wave of new international routes this year, marking an exciting time for Adelaide’s connectivity. New flights will commence from Adelaide to San Francisco via United Airlines, while Air New Zealand will introduce a seasonal service between Adelaide and Christchurch. Direct flights will now resume to Guangzhou and Hong Kong, while Qantas has announced resumption of direct flights to Auckland.
Make Mortlock Library the World's Number One
The State Library of South Australia’s Mortlock Chamber will vie for a spot as one of the world’s Top 10 Most Beautiful Libraries. Part of the 2025 1000 Libraries Awards, it joins other esteemed nominees such as the New York Public Library. Voting is open until 15 July 2025. Winners will be announced 21 July 2025.
New SA Tourism Plan Presents Significant Opportunities
The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) has released its South Australia Tourism Plan 2030. More than 400 representatives across the state were consulted and had input on the plan, which aims to grow the state’s visitor economy to $12.8 billion and create a further 4,400 tourism jobs by 2030. The plan outlines a clear path forward for positioning the state as a national leader in sustainable and inclusive tourism.
British & Irish Lions in Adelaide: 15,000 Reasons for Businesses to Open Early
Hospitality venues can open early for breakfast on Sunday, 13 July to accommodate an estimated 15,000 extra visitors to the city following the British and Irish Lions clash on Saturday, 12 July. The influx of interstate and international fans is expected to contribute to the game’s $12.5 million economic benefit to the city.

Adelaide has been showcased on season eight of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix. Presenter Philip Rosenthal travels to Adelaide to try some of the best food on offer, heading to the Adelaide Central Market and Africiola for unforgettable cuisine experiences.

The City of Adelaide is currently holding a Supplementary Election to fill four Central Ward Councillor vacancies. City of Adelaide Councillors are responsible for many of the services that make the City of Adelaide one of the most liveable cities in the world. Becoming a Councillor means you will help shape a wide range of policies and decisions that will impact the short and long-term future of your local community.
Nominations open on Thursday 26 June, closing 12 noon 10 July 2025. Nominations can be submitted online through the Electoral Commission of SA Candidate Portal.
Visitor Economy Boost as Two CBD Hotels set for Major Makeovers
More than $60 million will be pumped into hotels across the city following the sale of two major hotels. The Mayfair Hotel on King William Street will undergo a refurbishment of up to $23 million, while plans are underway for a $40 million renovation on the Hilton Hotel on Victoria Square.
