Eight new and expanding businesses are set to add 757 employees to the city’s workforce between April and July 2024. This growth is supported by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s (AEDA) Welcome to Adelaide Program. The program offers tailored support to businesses establishing or relocating to the city, assisting their growth and integrating their staff into the local community. To make their transition seamless and enjoyable, the program includes bespoke 'Welcome to Adelaide' tote bags.
Throughout the 2023/24 financial year, the program has supported the creation/relocation of more than 1,000 jobs across various sectors. Companies continue to be drawn to the city for its quality office spaces and central location, ideal for attracting customers and business development.
These businesses include:
- Defence Housing Australia relocated from Mawson Lakes to 185 Pirie Street.
- Zoho Corporation, a global leader in business software, has established its Australian headquarters at 30 Currie Street, and is expected to create 50 positions over the next three years. "Adelaide has proven to be a fantastic central point for Zoho to cater for our customers across the country," said Rakesh Prabhakar, Regional Manager, Australia/New Zealand.
- Marriott Hotel, a $200 million South Australian first project taking up residence above the historic General Post Office building, is set to elevate the city’s skyline and accommodation offering. Marriott is looking to fill over 130 positions for the new hotel which forms part of South Australia’s $1.2 billion hotel investment pipeline for Adelaide.
- Pernod Ricard Winemakers, a world-renowned premium wine business, moved from Dulwich to 22 King William Street, bringing its 150 employees to the heart of Adelaide.
- Rising Sun Pictures moved to 190 Flinders Street, leveraging Adelaide’s emerging creative sector.
- Plenti, a leading fintech lender, has entered a strategic partnership with NAB in November 2023, marking a new chapter in its growth. It established its base at 7/89 Pirie Street after an initial stint at Pirie House’s co-working space, 'The Hub'.
- Lutheran Homes Group, previously at Franklin Street, relocated its corporate office to 100 Pirie Street to accommodate its growing team. Lutheran Homes Group is a leading aged care organisation with a dedicated team of close to 1,000 staff and volunteers to provide services for approximately 1,600 South Australians.
As of 2023, 169,940 employees called the City of Adelaide their main place of work, a figure that had grown by 7.3% from the previous year. The city now boasts 18% of the state's workforce, with the largest employment industries being Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, Health Care and Social Assistance, Public Administration and Safety, and Financial and Insurance Services. Additionally, 95% of city expenditure is from visitors to the city, much of which is made up of workers.
Amplar Health’s Major Move
Amplar Health, a division of the Medibank group and one of Australia’s largest in-home care providers, has relocated 150 staff to its new headquarters at 440 King William Street. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and real-time dashboards, this purpose-built facility marks a significant milestone in Amplar Health’s commitment to revolutionising the delivery of healthcare services in Australia. It serves as the central hub for Amplar's extensive network of nurses and allied health practitioners.

With approximately 1,000 at-home visits conducted daily by its team of skilled nurses and allied health practitioners, Amplar Home Health has geographical coverage to over 97% of the population through its own employees and large network of contracted providers.

In addition, we are in the process of selecting a hybrid vehicle to replace our existing petrol vehicle fleet to reduce our environmental impact.”
