Build Connections at the Australia ASEAN Business Forum
The Australia-ASEAN Business Forum will be held in Adelaide for the first time since 2014, strengthening ties and accelerating growth between Southeast Asia and Australia. More than 750 leaders, policy makers and diplomats will come together for the event, which includes high profile speakers and an exhibition for businesses to build relationships with delegates. The event aims to create relationships between countries and open up pathways for trade, investment and innovation.
Workshop: How to Create a Standout Brand for Your Business
Renew Adelaide, which aims to match up small business with vacant space in the CBD, will host a panel on Thursday, 17 July, as part of its new Talking Shop series. The first session unpacks the art of building a strong brand. Speakers include Bella McCrae of Divide, Emily Hart and Margot Lloyd of Pink Shorts Press (pictured) and Tom Oswald of Homeboy.

AEDA Commits $3.6 Million as part of its Strategic Partnerships Program
AEDA has awarded six organisations a share of $3.6 million as part of a funding program to support job creation, innovation and business activity across the city. Successful applicants are Business Events Adelaide, University of Adelaide/ThincLab, Festival City Adelaide, Study Adelaide, and MTPConnect.
Central Ward Supplementary Election Candidates
Businessowners, former councillors and a barrister are among 19 candidates that have nominated for a position on the City of Adelaide (CoA) council. Voting to fill four vacancies on the Central Ward opens later this month.

New Advisory Committee Appointments to Drive City Growth
AEDA has appointed two leading Adelaide businesspeople – Angela Maglieri and Paula Mifsud – to its Advisory Committee. Perks Accountants and Wealth Advisers Chief Executive James Black has been reappointed to the Committee.
Work Health and Safety (WHS): New Legislation Webinar
SA Business Chamber, in conjunction with St John's Ambulance SA, will host a webinar about new legislation requiring specific government, commercial, and privately owned facilities to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). There are penalties of up to $20,000 for non-compliance of the new rules. It is on Tuesday, 29 July.
Startup Ecosystem Report: Adelaide Moves Up Global Ranking
Adelaide has risen 15 places in StartupBlink's Startup Ecosystem Report, now ranking 217 of more than 1,450 cities worldwide. CleanTech – which includes products, services, and processes that reduce harm to the environment through efficiency, sustainability, and protection – was the city's top-ranked subsector.
Q1 2025: Surge in Consumer Spending from Festivals
Consumer spending in Adelaide surged to nearly $1 billion in the first quarter of 2025, according to new data from AEDA. Entertainment venues and foot traffic across the city also saw strong growth, highlighting confidence and vibrancy in the local economy.
National Minimum Wage Jumps by 3.5%
The National Minimum Wage has increased by 3.5 per cent to $948 per week, or $24.95 per hour. This brings annual pay up $1,699.20 to $49,296. The change comes into effect the first pay cycle after 1 July 2025.
