A day out with... Paul Gordon

Last updated 25 Jan, 2023

When Paul Gordon walks into his King William Street office each day he is proud of the connection he has with the city.

The Partner at Wallmans Lawyers can be found visiting the small businesses around town, tapping into each venue's authenticity and contribution to the CBD.

“What makes small businesses in the CBD so important is the uniqueness they bring,” Mr Gordon says.

“You aren’t going to find anything you get here in some chain store overseas or even in another part of town.

“It is the unique love, energy and passion they bring to make the city what it is.”

ADLocal caught up with Mr Gordon as part of its A day out with... series where top business leaders promote the little guys that make the city tick.

Among the places Mr Gordon — who specialises in intellectual property, technology and media law — is So Urban BBQ, just metres away from his office

He finds himself often ordering the signature slow cooked beef wrap served with a salad, which he says is “just delicious”.

“It is such an incredible place,” Mr Gordon says.

“The food is fantastic; it is a reasonable price … and it is just a pleasant place to come.”

Mr Gordon often visits the Duke of Brunswick, on Gilbert Street, to enjoy a feed off its completely gluten-free menu or just peruse the extensive whisky and beer list.

He says it is a place people can gather and one that supports the arts industry, a scene he is passionate through his side hustle as Managing Director of Dramatix Pty Ltd.

Dramatix Pty Ltd is an online company that provides innovative ticketing solutions.

“It is a place where communities are formed and everyone feels valued,” Mr Gordon says.

“I also love that people can go there without really having to worry about what they’re able to eat.”

Modern Korean restaurant Plus 82 MiMi on Sturt Street is part of the Plua 82 Group that has four locations across town. The group also have Plus 82 Pocha on Grenfell Street, PLUS 82 GoGi on Eliza Street and Plus 82 Lite in Gawler Place.

Mi translates to ‘beautiful’ in the Korean language, and Mr Gordon says the food is nothing short of that.

“It is a really exciting venue, and the food is amazing,” Mr Gordon says.

“There are innovative types of food that you can’t get from any other restaurant; it is elegant, beautiful and creative.”
